One maintenance brain across twelve plants
How a global manufacturer ended the era of tribal knowledge by giving every plant engineer the same agentic assistant — one that reads every work order, every manual, and every fix that ever worked anywhere.
Challenge
Decentralized knowledge across 12 plants created inconsistent maintenance responses and repeat failures. The best fix for a given fault was known at one site and re-discovered painfully everywhere else. Shift changes lost context, and root-cause analyses rarely made it back into the knowledge base.
Solution
We deployed agentic RAG across the full maintenance corpus — work orders, engineering manuals, sensor event logs, and past RCAs — with auto-escalation into on-call engineers when an agent's confidence dropped below threshold. Every resolved incident feeds the corpus on close.
Results
“We stopped losing the good answer every time someone rotated off shift. The agent carries the memory of every plant, every fault, every fix.”
